For our last Christmas in Florida we thought it would be fun to go to the beach!! The high was only supposed to be 71 degrees, but it was supposed to be sunny and nice. We got there and it was cloudy and misting. We held out hope and set up our picnic lunch that we packed as we donned our jackets.
It was not the traditional Christmas Eve lunch of "Dopp i Grytan" (which is my families favorite Swedish Christmas tradition) but it could have been worse than Ham and Cheese Sandwiches and CapriSun. We could have had fish sandwiches... more on that later...
The misting went away long enough to let us have about an hour playing in the water and building "sand castles". The water wasn't terribly cold, but was a bit shocking at first... and I had just shaved my legs so the salt water really hurt!!!
The "highlight" of the day was the fish. If only we would have done a little research we would have found out that there was a red tide algae organism that has killed thousands of fish (and big fish at that) which have washed up on the shore. It didn't smell bad up by our picnic site, but once we crossed over the "fish zone" and got down by the water it was TERRIBLE!! And we found out after watching the news that the toxins in the dead fish can cause coughing and throat irritation. It was a Merry FISHmas!!You're probably wondering why Camilla isn't in any of the pictures... she just bought a new camera, and won't let anyone else touch it. So she's not in any pictures, but she sure took a lot of them!! This is one of our favorites...

Have a wonderful Christmas Day celebrating the Birth of Jesus!!
