Our trip to MN was fast and beautiful. I took this picture while I was driving (probably not the best idea). We repeatedly ooohhed and aaaahhed over the beauty of the autumn leaves. It has been two years since I've "seen" fall. In Florida the leaves would fall, but there were still leaves on the trees. It's weird. And this is our first fall in Kansas, and so far, there is NO comparison to the beauty of Minnesota. I hope those of you who are fortunate enough to live there appreciate the beauty that surrounds you these few weeks!

We went to Aamodt's Apple Orchard and although we didn't get to pick the apples off the trees, we had fun. They had a petting zoo, consisting of a few goats and one donkey... we did no petting, just looking.

But the little goat that kept ramming the donkey was pretty funny! The hay bale maze was fun, but the highlight (aside from the honeycrisp apples) was the large pile of hay that the boys enjoyed running on and jumping off.

My new obesssion that has been keeping me from blogging (JoAnn!!!) is refinishing furniture. I've been looking for solid, ugly, cheap furniture on craigslist and then refinishing them. So far I've done a $20 dresser and a $10 side table. Unfortunately I didn't do before pictures, but here's the after of the side table. But now that I'm done with both of them I may have to find more time to blog?? Maybe.

That looks so awesome Kara! I'm really impressed! I have an old family table and 6 chairs that I someday hope to redo in black and do the antique look on it (you know, with the white buffed edges)?! Glad you made it to MN. Hope you're doing well!!!

Good for you Kara...express your creativity!! Not that you can ever top the 3 boys:)
Hope to see you online more...we miss you.
Cheers-
Kara!!! We've been obsessed with Craigslist lately as well! We scored a great china cabinet, trestle table, pine chest (using as a coffee table) and a gorgeous antique dry sink with an Italian tile inset that we use in our living room. All this for less than $300 total. We haven't refinished anything, but we're getting ready to do all 28 stairs in our house now that Blaine ripped up our hideous carpet. We're lucky to have solid pine treads, so he's going to stain and poly those and paint the risers white.
We miss MN soooo much, too. We'd have loved to have spent the afternoon with you at Aamodt's. Didn't get there nearly enough when we lived in MN! Almost 5 years away hasn't quelled our love for it at all. We still talk about our time there all the time. Any chance you guys will get to move back there, or does God still have a lot of places to take you?
Love and blessings!
Lisa
The table looks very nice! Where is the dresser? Show us! LOL. Miss you, Come back!
Hey Kara! I can't believe Madison and I were gone when you guys came! We had fun at the retreat, but it would've been great to see you guys. I have a blog finally, and the picture is kind of funny. :) Well, I hope to see you guys soon! -Danny
