Jakin Turns 8...

Yesterday, my first born turned 8. Eight years ago, I suffered and cried and had NO IDEA what the future held as I held my baby boy... and he peed on me. It was wonderful. Now we practically wear the same size shoes and it won't be long before he stands taller than I do. The celebration started on Tuesday when we went to see "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" Jakin's choice. He opened gifts and choose Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup for dinner.

Wednesday we surprised Jakin with "Vikings" cupcakes at school. This picture is Ms. Manny interviewing him about things he likes. My favorite question was "If you could have your birthday party anywhere where would you have it?" Jakin's answer was "Wet-n-Wild" (a waterpark in Florida). He's never been there but apparently driving by made a big impression.

And the highlight of the day was the Talent Show Jakin participated in at Awana. He performed a Magic Trick with the assistance of his brother Asher. Have a look...

Justin and I actually got to go out with some friends last week. We went to P.F. Chang's with Joe and Kara. Kara bought a babysitting certificate at a silent auction fundraiser their church had and ever so graciously gave it to us. So we made them come out with us. It was a lot of fun, and the food was terrific. The four of us shared five entrees.
